ELECTRIC CIRCUITS LAB:



The students will learn the basic requirements for building simple DC/AC circuits,Verifications of circuit theorems, employ power supplies as well as measure electrical parameters of current, voltage, resistance with multimeters and oscilloscopes.


  • The Electric Circuit Laboratory is utilised by EEE & ICE branches of students for lab work.
  • Also utilised by the UG & PG students for developing hardware their project work.

ELECTRICAL MACHINES LAB:



The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has a well established Electrical Machines laboratory comprising of more than fifty machines, at a cost of Rupees sixty three lakhs, spread over 3800 sqft area.This laboratory, fed by Modern electronic regulated power supply, facilitates numerous value added experiments in addition to meeting the courseware objectives and curriculum requirements.The infrastructural facilities are utilized by the students for UG/PG projects apart from regular laboratory schedule and this laboratory supports consultancy services & research work.


POWER ELECTRONICS LAB:



The power electronics lab enhances the EEE students by providing them the better understanding of the concepts and working of advanced power semiconductor devices and power electronics circuits. It consists of different kinds of demo kits such as single phase and three phase converters, Step up and step down choppers. The lab is equipped with all the power electronic converters,triggering circuits Power supplies,CROs.


MEASUREMENTS & CONTROL SYSTEM LAB:



This lab introduces about the fundamentals of measurements and control system with practical exposure. This lab has been well furnished with the equipments like AC and DC servomotor, synchros position control system, LVDT, measurement bridges , etc.This lab is also equipped with sufficient number of CROs, AFO and necessary equipment.


ELECTRICAL DRIVES LAB:




Electrical Drives Labs have a total space of over 780 sq.feet and has well organized test benches. The lab houses equipments and test benches which cater the curriculum needs as well as flexible enough to pursue research work in Drives, Power Quality and Renewable energy applications. The equipments include AC and DC Machines, special electric machines (BLDC, PMSM, SRM and Stepper Motor etc), Power DC-DC converters ranging from 2 KW ~ 6 KW and DC-AC Inverters rated from 6 KVA ~ 13 KVA, Data Acquisition system with irradiation sensor, PV panel with battery bank. The lab has several in-house developed experiments set up for digital control of AC and DC Motors. The lab is also equipped with PC's Digital signal processors, Hall Effect Current and Voltage sensors, Speed sensors used in control of Drives. All the Test Benches are provided with 3-Phase AC, DC and 1-Phase UPS supply. The measuring instruments facility includes fluke power quality analyzer, Agilent/Tektronix Storage oscilloscopes, true rms meters, analog tachometers.


COMPUTER LAB:






  • Total Number of Computers : 39

  • Printing and Scanning Facilities are provided for the Students with High Speed Internet Connectivity.

  • The center is equipped with 15 KVA UPS.

  • Technical Software available in the Computer lab:
    • MATLAB
    • PSCAD
    • ETAP & OrCAD / PSpice.
    • AUPower Lab, PCB Eagle software.

  • This Computer Lab is being extensively used by the M.E and B.E Project students in addition to the following regular Laboratory courses
    • Power Systems Simulation Laboratory - VII Semester B.E.
    • Control system laboratory - IV Semester B.E
    • Electrical circuit laboratory - II Semester B.E.

Power System Research Laboratory:


It is imperative to formulate new perspectives on students to add values through application-oriented approaches to meet the challenge of changes and dynamism. EEE department will continue to help students in shaping them as future professionals and assist them to improve their performance by imparting career oriented courses periodically. Hands-on experience on practical circuit breakers is employed. Sample circuit breakers, both LT and HT are provided for testing and trouble shooting. This laboratory provides periodical in-house training programs and national level workshops for the UG/PG engineering students to bring out professional and technical excellence in them in order to bridge the gap between industries and academia. The main objective is to disseminate knowledge and appropriate skill practices through proper systems of training testing and certification.

  • Familiarization on switchgear maintenance practices
  • Calibration of smart meters
  • Temperature rise measurements on switchgear through primary injection
  • Monitoring tripping operation of circuit breakers through actuation of protective relays
  • Timing measurements on circuit breaker operation
  • Familiarization on programming of numerical relays and smart meters
  • Interpretation of switchgear control circuits, power circuits, interlocking requirements
  • Familiarization on switchgear specifications as per national and international standards.
