The department of EEE took a initiative on knowledge sharing by providing consultancy services to the industry by leveraging the expertise of the faculty and the existing laboratory facilities of the department. As a result of continuous effort of the department, the IIPC-EEE cell was formulated on October 2012 with an objective to reduce the gap between industry expectations (practice) and academic offerings (theory) by direct involvement of industry to attain a symbiosis. The IIPC-EEE is headed by a Certified Energy Auditor.
The department of EEE has procured a Fluke power quality and energy analyzer worth Rs. 8,00,000 (by utilizing the Grants sanctioned by AICTE (MHRD) under MODROBS scheme to carry out power quality and energy audit in industries. The area of power quality and energy audit is identified as a potential area with good scope for extending consultancy services especially due to the recent TNEB regulations (April 2012) to implement the “Central Electricity Authority (Technical Standards for Connectivity to the Grid) Regulations, 2007”, which has a specific clause on power quality compliance.
