SMART VILLAGE PROJECT AT RASHTRAPATHI BHAVAN
(PRESIDENT STATE)
India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) in association with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) and NetajiSubhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) conducted a pan-India INNO-THON 2017 event as part of their India Smart Grid Week (ISGW). They invited innovative ideas that could modernize the power sector. The participants included students from IIT, BITS, NIT, other Engineering colleges, Researchers, Engineers from Utilities and the Power Industry as well as Technology enthusiasts.
Only two teams from Tamil Nadu had participated in this event. Both of them were college teams. Saranathan College of Engineering was one of those two participants. The team from Saranathancollege had as members Mr.M.Ramesh, Mr.S.Sivashankaran, Mr.V.Ramkumar, Mr.E.SaranPrabhu - all from our Final year EEE branch.
Out of a total of 150 projects submitted 30 were shortlisted and invited to exhibit their project as part of INNO-THON 2017 at the NSIT, Delhi on 21st and 22nd of Jan 2017.
Saranthan’sproject titled “DEVELOPMENT OF an IoT BASED SMART VILLAGE” was adjudged as the best project and was included for display at the “ Rooftop Solar and Energy Efficient Projects” Exhibition organized by Tata Power DDL at RashtrapatiBhawan (President Estate) on 10th February 2017. This exhibition was inaugurated by the Honorable President of India and was a part of the first phase of a solar power project in the President’s Estate that would generate 670KW electricity to meet partially the power requirements. As part of the inaugural event, a day-long exhibition showcasing various aspects of energy conservation and green energy was also held.
It is very significant to note that Saranathan’s project was the only Student based project displayed in that event. Ms. N.Gayathri, (Assistant professor, EEE department from Saranathan College and the mentor for this project) along with the students presented the project on Smart village to Honorable President of India. On the teams return from Delhi after their successful and prestigious presentation to the Honourable President , Shri.S.Ravindran Secretary, Dr. D.Valavan Principal, Prof. V.Nagarajan Director, Dr. C Krishnakumar Professor & Head EEE department congratulated the whole team for their great efforts and achievements.
